The building that houses the film theatre Union on the Bölschestraße was built in 1872 as a dance hall and has been used as a cinema since 1913. Parties still take place in the spacious hall with plenty of room in front of the stage. A particularly beautiful feature is the curved upper row seating and unique glassed in smoking area with a view of the screen. In 2003 the architect Matthias Stütz bought the theatre and he has expanded both the film programme and building ever since.
