The short film curators of the BRITISH SHORTS series have organized a special “Summer Edition“ with award-winning and very amusing shorts. The program is so popular that Open Air Island will be showing it twice this year: August 7 and August 14. The “Open Screening Film of the Year“ is traditionally awarded at TESTBILD – OPEN SCREENING. Four nominated films will be screened and the audience will decide who wins. Afterwards, a normal Open Screening will take place: short films no longer than 15 minutes can be brought along without registration. The audience can stop a film screening at any time by showing a red card (19.8, film submissions from 19:30 on). The live-scoring of Walther Ruttman‘s montage classic BERLIN – SYMPHONIE EINER GROSSSTADT (21.8.) by electro-duo Tronthaim has become an institution by now. Ruttmann‘s rhythmic movement portrait of big city life is more suited to a new musical score than almost any other film.
