The Soura Film Festival was held for the first time last year. The festival is a platform for queer cinema from the Middle East and North Africa ("MENA-Region") and creates a forum for an often overlooked film culture while also starting conversations and exchanges. The second edition will take place at the Oyoun Cultural Center on Wissmannstraße. Along with a series of short film programs the festival will show Teddy winner FUTUR DREI by Faraz Shariat, Ala Eddine Slim‘s dropout fantasy TLAMESS, and the documentary MEANWHILE IN BEIRUT (D: Felipe Monroy) that follows the daily life of 30 year old trans woman Lea. There will also be a retrospective that sets out to find queer narratives in the classic cinema of the MENA region for the first time.
