Since 2009 the PorYes Feminist Porn Awards have been providing a counterpoint to what its organisers see as an industry reducing women to passive objects and men to brutish erections. Instead the awards want to show a sex-positive, feminist view on the genre empowering participants and observers of all genders and ethnicities to experience sexuality as something beautiful and pleasurable.
Screenings of the nominated films are already taking place at "Sexklusivitäten" but the high point of the festival will undoubtedly be the awards ceremony on October 16th at 8pm at the Renaissance Theater.
In addition to this there is a lecture on "Authenticity in Feminist Porn" chaired by Dr. Laura Méritt on October 18th at the Main Building of Humboldt University and a panel discussion on ageism and racism in mainstream porn on Sunday, the 17th at Taz Pressecafé.
