The third edition of the Soundwatch Music Film Festival Berlin will take place between November 6-21. The venues are Acud Kino, Lichtblick Kino, silent green Kulturquartier, and Werkstatt der Kulturen. The opening film is the Berlin premiere of NEW ORDER: DECADES (UK 2018) by Mike Christie. After the film Mark Reeder, the missing link between Manchester and Berlin, Joy Division and New Order, will DJ at an after show party. The extensive program features PJ Harvey, Ricky Shayne, Kode9, Itaca, Bob Rutman, Frederic Rzweski, Kumbia Queers, and Jalal Mansur Nuriddin (Last Poets) as well as pop institutions like MTV and the US music magazine CREEM, rock scenes in Russia, and hip hop in France and in Arab countries. Our tip is THE HEART IS A DRUM, a doc directed by Jacob Frössén about Klaus Dinger, the drummer of the influential German band NEU! and Kraftwerk (and La Düsseldorf). Dinger‘s minimalist, ultra-straight groove invented the drum machine before it even existed.
