Film newsreels have a long tradition in Siberia, dating back to the first days of cinema. The format was revived in 2016, though just for a few editions. “Russian Doc“ will be showing some historical editions from the period 1955-1991 in January as well as the documentary SIBERIA IN IMAGES – MYTHS AND REALITIES (2001) about the reasons why the newsreels were often in conflict with the censors.

In February a documentary about Valerij Solomin who died in 2017 will be screened.
