Interfilm & Kuki

The Interfilm Festival has decided to do a hybrid version in 2021: from 16.11-21.11 Berlin‘s oldest and largest short film festival will take place in the cinema. From 17.11-13.12 selected programs can be watched online in four different weekly packages. There are all altogether 400 films in over 50 programs. The special programs that accompany the international and national competition are always especially fun to look at. Along with classics like the “Green Film Competition“ and “The Long Night of Absurd Film“ there‘s the “Reality Bites“ program with films on the border between documentary and fiction, “Queer Fever“ screening shorts about love and identity in all of its facets, “Genre Now! Slashing the Patriarchy“ with female directors taking on slasher films, and “human machine“ that investigates the future of AI. The countries in focus this year are Hungary, China, and Myanmar, and the program “Girls* Riot“ was curated by teenagers. As always, the children‘s film programs are screened in KUKI, which is its own festival.
Before the festival, the Heinrich Böll Foundation‘s “Eyes Wide Open Online Award“ will take place in which the audience can vote on nine “socio-political films.“ You can watch the films online and the entrance is free.
