The “Documentale – International Documentary and Media Festival Berlin“ will show documentaries all over Berlin from 12-22.6: over 40 documentaries and several VFX works will be screened at 18 venues. Podcasts will be recorded live and nonfiction books will be presented at the festival center in the Atelier Gardens. There will be exhibitions, a program for film professional visitors, and "Fuckup Night Berlin" invites visitors to share stories of failure…

At the center of the program are many Germany premieres, like ABORTION DREAM TEAM by Karolina Lucyna Domagalska about the work of four Polish abortion activisits or LITTLE SYRIA by Reem Karssli and Mdalina Rosca, which follows a group of Syrian refugees in their efforts to help the victims of the Assad regime. THE AGE OF WATER by Alfredo and Isabel Alcántara will have its European premiere. The film is about a community in Mexico that discovers their water is radioactively polluted after a series of mysterious illnesses and deaths with six local mothers fighting to find out the truth.

The festival will open with an “immersive exploration:“ GLANZ & WIDERSTAND, a co-production of the Dokumentale with the Berlin Ballet Company, explores the myth of Marlene Dietrich and her significance as an anti-fascist icon. Audience members are invited to actively participate in this experiment—a blend of ballet performance, film, drama, and lecture.
