She wants to conserve history, so nothing is lost, says Pat, one of six women whose life and love story Barbara Wallbraun sensitively tells in her moving documentary Uferfrauen, 30 years after the Fall of the Berlin Wall. As different as the protagonists are, they all share the experience of wanting to remain true to themselves as lesbians living in a system which applied systematic force to make its citizens conform and adapt – which ultimately inspired them to raise their voices.
