Scientist Lillian Reynolds develops a revolutionary device with Michael (Christopher Walken) and Karen Brace (Natalie Wood) - a brain-computer interface that enables thoughts, emotions and experiences to be recorded and transferred to others so that they can experience them. When Reynolds suffers a heart attack and realizes that she is about to die, she decides to record her experience so that her colleagues can gain an insight into what happens during and after death.
