Anna Hartley is 15 years old when she meets DJ Feadz in Paris and produces a song with him that makes her a star overnight: her second identity Uffie is born. Uffie is young and wild. She likes to party a lot and doesn‘t have limits when it comes to alcohol and rugs. She enjoys her life unconditionally and that‘s what her fans love about her. “What else do you have to do in your 20s other than take drugs and party?“ Uffie cheekily asks the camera. She doesn‘t know what a normal ife is, and when she beings to want that she realizes how much easier it would be to just be Uffie. It would be easier to keep going, to do exactly what her label and audience expect of her. She‘s aware that she has become a fictional character. That her fans shout “we love you“ and “we want you to die“ shortly thereafter. That she‘ll be dropped when she‘s not popular anymore. She sees her first pregnancy as a breather from this, her own life. But things pan out differently and she keeps feeling worse. She drinks to survive the madness and starts to cut herself to gain some control over something in her life. She doesn‘t want to go on like this, she wants a different, more normal life, but doesn‘t see an alternative. This is the life she quit school for and she still feels the Uffie side of herself who loves to party. “How do you separate work from yourself when you‘re the work?“ Loud and honest, moving and energetic, the documentary FUCK FAME shows how Anna became Uffie and goes back to being Anna in the end. A “normal“ life can still be “fucking fantastic.“
