The rescue vessel "Lewis and Clark" is sent to investigate a distress signal from the ship "Event Horizon" which disappeared seven years prior while testing a new form of hyperdrive. They find the ship empty and records indicating that the transdimensional journey has led the ship to somewhere resembling hell. Shortly after that, the rescue crew starts to have visions of traumatic memories and the ship itself seems increasingly alive.

Director Paul Anderson is better known these days for making the RESIDENT EVIL films with his wife Milla Jovovich, which can be generously described as "not very good". EVENT HORIZON on the other hand has some faults but is otherwise a hidden gem of the space horror genre. Fans have long held hope for a director's cut, after some of the more extreme scenes of violence had to be cut for the cinema release but so far the best that has turned up is a VHS workprint.
