In the directorial debut of fashion designer Tom Ford, Colin Firth plays George Falconer, an English professor teaching in California. George is still grieving for his partner Jim who suffered a fatal car accident months earlier. With not even his best friend Charley (Juliane Moore) able to lift George's mood, he goes through the day which he intends to be his last.
